Holiday Phrases Quiz
Italy, France and Spain are some of the most popular destinations for British holidaymakers. It's not difficult to understand why... the Italians with their easy sense of style, delicious pizza and pasta and beautiful buildings and architecture. The flirty French with their fromage, baguettes and vineyards and the Spanish with their laid back lifestyle and white sand beaches. Whilst we might enjoy the sunshine, the beaches and the local sights, how do we get on with the lingo? How many of us can greet the locals in their own language, or order a beer, say please and thank you and ask for the bill? Brits have a reputation for being a bit lazy when we travel, expecting everyone else to speak English so that we don't have to worry about asking for the things we need to enjoy our holiday. Is it true that we holiday abroad but carry on speaking in English, or do we have at least a basic grasp of the languages of the places we travel to?
